Derek Yepes is a Connecticut-based digital product designer with a career spanning over 8 years in the industry, building products, digital experiences, and brands while making fun and engaging products people love to use.
Before getting into design, I had a career working with special needs kids. I was introduced to the world of UI/UX design when I came across a YouTube Channel by the name of Mike Locke. After a few videos, I was infatuated, and I knew that UI/UX was a career for me because it was a blend of what I did as a special needs instructor. As an instructor, I needed to craft a curriculum/structure to help make my client's life easier when doing everyday tasks. So, in 2016, I enrolled in a Design Bootcamp called DesignLab; the rest was history.
